My mom makes an amazing mouthwatering sauce on Sundays. The recipe was handed down from her Nonna, who got it from her mother in Italy. The Sunday mornings when I woke up to the smell of sauce already wafting through the house are some of my favorite memories. Nothing can replace that recipe. However, we do not always have 8 hours to make a sauce and meatballs. So, this recipe is a quick and easy substitute for when you’re craving that Sunday meatball and pasta taste, but don’t have to time to tend to a sauce all day. I added some leftover broccoli to get some vegetables in. You can add any fresh or frozen greens you have on hand. I love eating this dish with a salad. Pasta with a side salad is the best combination! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 pound of ground beef
½ of a white or yellow chopped onion
Broccoli (I used leftover roasted broccoli but you can really add any greens to this like spinach, asparagus, etc.)
16oz jar of tomato sauce
Pasta of your choosing, linguine goes great with this!
Directions:
Brown meat with ½ of onion
Cook your pasta according to directions on the box
Add your greens
Add 16oz jar of tomato sauce when meat is fully browned
Let simmer for 5 mins
Add sauce to pasta
I love adding pasta on top of greens like raw lettuce or spinach. Something about the hot and cold combination and the crunch of the lettuce just feels right
